World of Warcraft News → Patch 5.1 UI and Macro changes

Posted on: 10-12-2012 - Updated on: 10-12-2012

There’s a few UI changes that will be really helpful in patch 5.1. We’ve been waiting for a few for a long time and I can’t wait for the patch to drop. Here’s what’s changed in regard to UI and Macros for patch 5.1.

New loss of character banner

First, there will be a banner on your head I’m assuming when you can’t control your character:

– A banner will appear when a player is subjected to an effect that causes them to lose control of their character. The effect that caused the loss of control and remaining duration will be displayed. Configuration options are available in the “Combat” section of the “Interface Options” menu.

This is interesting. I’m curious what it looks like and will post a screenshot when I see it. I’m hoping it works for things like getting stunned when tanking because sometimes it just looks like you are standing there doing nothing.

New mount search bar

Next, they finally put a search bar on your mount and pet section. This will be so helpful because now that mounts are account wide, we won’t have to spend much time looking for them:

– A search bar has been added to the mount section of the Mount and Pet Journal.

Lots of pet battle changes

Some additional Pet UI changes also with the new patch. We’re still flushing out our Pet Battle Macro section.

– The Mount and Pet Journal remembers which tab you were last using.
– Right clicking a pet’s portrait will now offer the option to look it up in the Pet

Summon random pet

And finally, them most important part for our site, the Summon Random Pet Macro and the Summon Random Favorite Pet macro:

Macros have been added that allow for summoning random pets and random favorite pets.

So here’s the summon random pet and the summon random favorite pet macros:

/summonpet
/randomfavoritepet  – summon random favorite pet macro
